Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Terran Republic a PvP, PvE, or roleplay organisation?
All three, with a doctrinal emphasis on coordinated operations. We run PvE patrols and industrial ops; we engage in PvP where operationally required; we maintain a consistent in-universe identity. We are not a casual roleplay collective that rotates settings — the Republic operates in one shared narrative universe, under one doctrine.
What languages does the Republic operate in?
English and European Portuguese, both official. Operational communication defaults to whichever serves the mission.
Do I need a specific ship to join?
No. Recruits are accepted regardless of ship ownership. Participation in operations is built around the hulls available. Training is provided for roles that require specific capability.
Is voice chat required?
Voice is the Republic’s preferred channel for coordinated operations and is the default expectation. Members unable to use voice for reasons of disability or circumstance are welcomed to declare this in advance; reasonable accommodation is agreed with the member’s Officer.
Is there an age requirement?
Adults only by default. The Republic operates as an adult community. Exceptions are not extended without explicit High Command sanction. Members are also expected to comply with the community standards of any platform on which the Republic conducts itself.
The doctrine looks harsh. Is this real-life politics?
No. The doctrine is fiction, framed entirely within a grimdark military science-fiction setting. The enemies are fictional alien categories. The Republic’s harshness is aesthetic — inspired by the grimdark-militarism tradition in science fiction — and it applies exclusively to the in-universe context. We require members to understand this and to treat the fiction as fiction. Members who cannot make that separation are not a good fit.
Beyond the in-universe doctrine, real-world political and ideological argument is not welcome in Republic channels. The Republic is built around a shared fiction; it is not a forum for partisan debate, religious advocacy, or extreme positions on contested real-world subjects. Members come from every background, nationality, belief, and orientation — and the Republic is built to keep that breadth united around the fiction. Conduct that imports outside conflict into our channels — heated political argument, ideological evangelism, or sustained provocation on sensitive themes — is grounds for review and, where it persists, removal.
Will I be asked about my politics to join?
No. The Republic recruits on the basis of capability, loyalty, and respect for the Charter. Doctrine is the organisation’s doctrine, within the fiction. It does not map onto real-world political programmes.
Does the Republic allow aliens / augmented characters?
By doctrine the Republic’s membership is human, and its posture on augmentation is conservative. Roleplay that respects these positions is welcome; characters that contradict them will not fit the Republic’s ranks.
What happens in the first two weeks after I join?
See Article V of the Charter — Application, Orientation, First Operation, Integration, Oath of Vigil. An Officer or Veteran will reach out once you are on Discord.
What is the Oath of Vigil?
The short formal text a Recruit speaks — in English or European Portuguese — when transitioning to Citizen. It marks the end of the provisional period. The full text is provided to every Recruit during Integration. Public publication of the Oath is restricted by doctrine; sworn Citizens may consult it through the Republic’s internal channels.
How do I apply?
Read and accept the Charter, then join the Discord server. See Recruit for details.
